MOTOMAG MAGAZINE

Firstly the magazine has to be a topic of my choice whether that be travel, fashion, music, etc. In this case I decided to go into automotive. Specifically motorcycle motor-sport. The main issue is developing the entire magazine brand from scratch unlike a previous work where we were able to research an existing brand. This time around everything that was used in the magazine was used deliberately and thought through with careful consideration. When doing research of other motor-sport magazines. it was very clear that many of them prioritize imagery and vibrant colors to showcase each article. Same goes for their use of text. As for my sketches, I used several different font ideas that displayed some sort of movement or sporty aspect to them. As for my colors I thought of using vibrant colors such as reds, oranges, and blues. Throughout the entire process, I kept having to go back and forth between the actual work and the style guide because it is very easy to lose track of what you originally put in the style guide. I feel like the final product could've been better in terms of the typography. Mainly because typography isn't my strong suit but, I can always go back and develop the magazine further to the point where I can be proud of it.

This project reinforced the importance of consistency when developing a brand from the ground up. Regularly referring back to the style guide helped maintain a cohesive visual language throughout the magazine, while also highlighting areas for improvement, particularly in typography. The final outcome demonstrated my ability to create a complete editorial brand and provided valuable experience in publication design and visual storytelling.
